With family by her side, Clasina Victoria Groenewegen (née Vermue) passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on November 10, 2017. Survived by her husband of 56 years, John. Much loved mother of Angela (Steve Dow), Lori (John Zagar), Jeanine, John (Leica Duffy), and mother-in-law of Cindy. Predeceased by her son Greg (2011). Loving Oma to Laura (Jeremy), Peter, Sarah (Brent), Michael, Erica (Rob), Andrea, Dana, Kate, Jacqueline and Brigitte and beloved Oma-Oma of Joey, Jackson, Joshua, Peyton and Brynley. Sadly missed by siblings Henk Vermue, Annette Van Kempen (Tony), Marlies Buren, Eleanor Brenders (Bert), Tom Vermue (Judy), Trudy McCarthy (Doug) and Bill Vermue (Betty Jean) and sister-in-law Catherine Vermue. Predeceased by brother Edward, brother-in-law Cays Buren and sisters-in-law Marlene Vermue and Leny Vermue. Also missed by a large Groenewegen family including Cor and Mia, Bill and Ria, Peter and Bertha, Catherine and Arie in Canada and Greet (Nick deceased), Adriaan, Jeanne (Mathe deceased), Ria and Pete, Andre and Truus, Anny (deceased) and Tiny and Aad in Holland. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Relatives and friends will be received at Elliott-Madill funeral home (22424 Adelaide Street, Mt. Brydges) on Tuesday November 14th from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Parish ( 2408 Gideon Drive, Delaware ) on Wednesday November 15th commencing at 11am. A private family interment Sacred Heart in the Fields (23351 McEvoy Road, Mt. Brydges) at a later date. Donations to the London Regional Cancer Program in Clasien’s memory would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
